Camp Rainbow
Camp Rainbow Volunteers
The annual Camp Rainbow is organised by Club Rainbow (Singapore) and supported intensively by volunteers aged 21 years old and above.
There are two main groups of volunteers:
- Camp Planning Committee
- Befrienders
Camp Planning Committee
A 3 days 2 nights stay-in camp is logistically intensive, and a great amount of manpower is needed. Individuals who are interested to volunteer as part of the Camp Planning Committee can choose an area of expertise and interest that he/she will be able to contribute in (see structure below). A commitment of 3 – 4 months before the actual camp commencement is needed. Volunteers will have to meet up with their team mates, participate in discussions, plan and brainstorm ideas and together as a committee, run Camp Rainbow during the June school holidays.
Our Club Rainbow youths, many whom have been participants of Camp Rainbow in their younger years, are encouraged to join the Planning Committee. This gives them a sense of fulfillment to be able to contribute back to CRS, and also provides them the opportunity to learn and interact with adult volunteers from different walks of life and with different expertise.

Befrienders
Due to the nature of our client group, most of our children need special care and attention during camp. Therefore we need individuals who love direct interaction with children to join us as Befrienders.
A befriender will have to go through an interview and one training session with CRS before taking on the role. He/She is usually attached to 1 or 2 children and is required to take part in camp activities with his/her charge, to encourage participation of child in all activities and to take care of the physical & emotional needs of the child during camp. An Orientation & Camp Preparation Tea are scheduled 1 – 2 months before the camp are compulsory programs a befriender has to commit to.
