Youth Ambassadors
Every year, many student teams assist Club Rainbow in different projects, to promote awareness of what we are doing for chronically ill children and youths as well as raise the necessary funds to help fulfill our mission. This can be done as part of the school’s Community Involvement Programme (CIP), or as part of your CCA’s programme, or even as a personal project between you and your friends! We have listed below some examples of projects you can consider.
It does not matter if you are in a primary school or a tertiary institution – you can play an important role in helping Club Rainbow as our Young Ambassadors. You can start by organising a fundraising or awareness event within your own class or school, or assisting us in some of our regular programmes.
Interested? Here’s what you need to do if you are keen to organise a fundraising or awareness event:
a) Discuss your idea with classmates, schoolmates or friends and decide how you intend to raise the funds or execute an awareness-raising programme.
If you intend to launch a fundraising programme, you could do this through:
- The sale of used textbooks, CDs or other items (e.g. a garage sale);
- The collection and sale of recyclable items (e.g. old newspapers and drink cans);
- A bake sale or sale of drinks/food perhaps during your recess period.
- Organising a walkathon or a sports event within your school with supporters pledging donations.
- Designing posters and flyers to inform others of the work of Club Rainbow
(These are just a few suggestions. You may come up with other ideas of your own!)
b) Work out the details with your team. Decide what exactly you hope to do and how you intend to run the event. Remember it should either a class or school event. Do consider what manpower and other logistics you would need and assign duties to each member. Remember to work out how much the project will cost and how much funds you can raise.
c) When your plan is ready, talk to your teachers and get their help and support. You will need permission from your school to hold your activity on school grounds.
d) Next get in touch with us and let us know your ideas. We can try and help you work through the details of your plan. However as the charity is run by just a few staff members, we will not be able to help you out during the event itself.
e) After the event, do let us know how your event went. Your donation to Club Rainbow can be made in cash or cheque. We will give you an official receipt. You will also of course, have our deepest gratitude!
Do take note
Singapore laws do not allow you to approach people on the streets or go house to house to collect donations on behalf of a charity without a licence. Similarly you cannot sell tickets for lucky draws or other “games of chance” without a police licence. For more information on licensing requirements, please visit www.spf.gov.sg/licence/
