We speak with Jing Neng, an avid volunteer who has journeyed and built many meaningful relationships with our children and their families. Through this interview, we find out how he upkept his passion for volunteering!

Hello Jing Neng! Share with us, how long have you been volunteering with us?

JN: I have been volunteering with Club Rainbow since the inaugural Dreamseeds in 2016, so I will say about 3 years plus?

What kind of volunteering roles have you taken on so far?

JN: I've helped out with signature events such as the Dreamseeds Arts Fest, Ride for Rainbow, Celebrating Heroes covering scope duties such as ushering, manning stations, ad-hoc logistics matters, interacting with beneficiaries and their families.

What is your most memorable volunteering experience and Why?

JN: The most memorable one has got to be the Camp Rainbow. It is an activities-filled 3 Days 2 Nights camp for the beneficiaries while their parents take a breather. It's really during the camp that you get to see all the different conditions of the kids, truly understand and have a glimpse of what they and their families might be going through. That’s also when you probably will start thinking about others more and hopefully be more appreciative in life.

What kept your passion for volunteering?

JN: Volunteering is something that I enjoy doing, it’s like my second nature. As long as I the time and energy, I'll keep doing it. The joy and appreciation you get from the beneficiaries and their families, even club rainbow staff, the friends you made along the way, these are the small little things which are priceless.
