Reach for Rainbow 2026 - Going the Extra Mile: Hogan Lovells Cadwalader’s Journey of Giving Back

For Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, making a difference in the community goes beyond professional expertise — it is about coming together to support causes that create meaningful and lasting impact.

As part of their corporate fundraiser, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader rallied colleagues across its Asia-Pacific offices in support of Club Rainbow (Singapore)’s children with chronic illnesses and their families. Through a fundraising hike up Mount Kinabalu, the team turned a personal challenge into an opportunity to raise awareness and contribute towards a cause close to their hearts.

Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is an international law firm with over 3,000 employees and offices across the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore. The firm has been operating in Singapore since 1998 and has established itself as one of the leading law firms in the country, advising clients across diverse sectors including financial services, technology, infrastructure and life sciences. Beyond its work, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is committed to contributing meaningfully to the communities where it operates, with a focus on driving positive and sustainable impact.

The team first learned about Club Rainbow through the organisation’s community engagement efforts and its strong reputation for supporting children living with chronic illnesses and their families. Inspired by the meaningful difference Club Rainbow makes in the lives of these children, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader saw an opportunity to bring colleagues together in support of a cause that extends care and encouragement to families during challenging times.

The fundraising initiative brought together lawyers from Hogan Lovells Cadwalader’s Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia offices, reflecting the firm’s spirit of regional collaboration. Led by Phill Hall, Partner at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader Singapore, the hike saw colleagues from across jurisdictions come together for a shared purpose. In Singapore, Ciara O’Leary, Associate and Community Investment Champion, and Khushaal Ved, Partner and Pro Bono Champion, played key roles in rallying support, with Arielle Low, Hogan Lovells’ APAC Pro Bono and Community Investment Advisor, supporting the regional coordination efforts.

The centrepiece of the campaign was a challenging hike up Mount Kinabalu, where participants pushed their limits together. For many team members, it was their first time taking on a 4,000m mountain. Despite the steep climb, long trail and difficult weather conditions, the team persevered through encouragement, laughter and camaraderie.

From the early morning summit attempt through heavy mist and strong winds, the team supported one another every step of the way. While not everyone reached the summit, all participants made it to the base of the final summit, with six members successfully reaching the top — creating memories that will remain with them for years to come.

Beyond the physical challenge, the fundraising journey also relied on the collective support of colleagues and the wider Hogan Lovells Cadwalader community. The team spent months reaching out across the firm’s network, sharing updates through weekly meetings, regional conferences and various communication channels. Through consistent engagement and multiple fundraising avenues, including LinkedIn, emails, conversations and Facebook, the campaign gained momentum and encouraged more people to contribute.

The experience reinforced Hogan Lovells Cadwalader’s belief in the importance of corporate giving — not only as a way to support communities in need, but also as a means of building stronger connections within organisations. By bringing employees together around a shared purpose, initiatives like this create opportunities for teamwork, engagement and meaningful contributions beyond the workplace.

For other corporates looking to start their own fundraising initiatives, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader shares a simple message: “Start small, but start with purpose.” When people connect with a meaningful cause, participation can grow organically. Whether through fundraising, volunteering or raising awareness, every contribution can play a part in creating greater impact.

Through their fundraising journey, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader demonstrated that when people come together with compassion and purpose, every step taken can help bring greater hope and support to children with chronic illnesses and their families.
