Reaching Further Together: Eugene's Six-Year Journey with Reach for Rainbow

For Eugene, staying active and giving back to the community have always gone hand in hand. With a passion for sports and community involvement, Reach for Rainbow has become an annual opportunity to combine both while supporting a cause close to his heart. 

Eugene first discovered the event in 2020 through social media, when it was still known as Ride for Rainbows. 

"I used to cycle a lot, so when I came across it, I decided to find out more," he shared. 

What started as a chance encounter soon grew into a tradition. This year marks Eugene's sixth time participating in Reach for Rainbow. 

What inspired him to sign up was the opportunity to dedicate his time and energy to something meaningful. 

"I wanted to put my time into something meaningful and fulfilling, supporting the children at Club Rainbow and their families. It was an opportunity to challenge myself while making a difference, and that's definitely one of the reasons that kept me coming back." 

Over the years, Eugene has found each edition of Reach for Rainbow to be a rewarding experience. 

"It has been consistently good. It's well organised, everybody's energy is so genuine, and every year I walk away glad that I took part." 

While every edition has left a lasting impression, one aspect stands out most to him — the unwavering support from the people around him. 

"Every Reach for Rainbow I've joined has been memorable. The support I get from friends and family is very heart-warming. Their words of encouragement, donations, and some even joined me on my rides as a form of support." 

Like many participants, Eugene has faced challenges along the way. The physical fatigue that sets in during the later stages of his rides is something he encounters every year. Yet, it is the purpose behind the challenge that keeps him moving forward. 

"What keeps me going is reminding myself why I'm out there in the first place; for those who supported me in my campaign and, of course, for everyone at Club Rainbow." 

For Eugene, Reach for Rainbow represents far more than a fundraising event. 

"To me, Reach for Rainbow is more than just an event. It's about hope, compassion and community. It reminds us that when people come together for a shared purpose, we can make a real difference in the lives of others." 

Beyond participating, Eugene also hopes more people will come forward to support the cause through donations. 

"Club Rainbow makes every dollar go a long way, giving the children and their families the best support possible.
